Access Bank Zambia Introduces the Zipange Account

Access Bank (Zambia) Limited has taken financial inclusion a step further by launching the Zipange (Access Express) Account which targets at the mass market with a tiered regime of Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements for an account to be opened.

The Zipange Account which targets the mass market with its tiered KYC requirements regime will allow consumers to enjoy a flexible account opening process for low to medium value accounts. These are subject to caps and restrictions as the amounts of transactions increase. However, the aim of the Zipange Account is to promote and deepen financial inclusion among the citizens of Zambia.

The account is a mass drive product aimed at encouraging customers and the public to use the Zipange Account for savings and transactions. Non-customers are encouraged to open the Zipange Account instantly, fund it and use it for their day to day banking needs.

Speaking at the launch event, Access Bank Zambia Country Managing Director – Mrs Joana Bannerman said the Zipange Account is a product that is designed to serve the mass market with the aim of tapping into the unbanked segments of the market.

“The Zipange Account is one way by which we can contribute to making Zambia a cashless society. As financial service providers, we need a concerted effort in order to achieve financial inclusion and this cannot be done by one player,” added Mrs Bannerman.

As a new product that will enable the opening of an Access Bank account in real time, the Zipange Account will grant customers the ability to transact on their mobile devices on the account and other available touch points. For a Zipange Account to be opened, the basic requirements a customer will need include; one-passport size photo, certified copy of ID and a tax payer’s identification number (TPIN).

Speaking at the same event, Access Bank Zambia Head of Retail Banking – Mrs Veronica Musukwa said the word Zipange simply means build yourself and the account is specifically designed to achieve that as it is a quick, convenient and low maintenance account aimed at helping individuals achieve their financial goals and freedom thereby giving them access to our robust digital banking platforms.  

The Zipange Account adds to the many retail products that Access Bank Zambia has rolled out in the past 10 months. The product further seeks to re-enforce the Bank’s commitment to the growth of its retail division of the business with the aim of addressing some of the challenges retail customers face thereby providing convenience in making banking a seamless and hustle free experience to the underserved and unbanked population in Zambia.
