Our History

Access Bank Plc operates through a connected network spanning three continents (Africa, Europe, and Asia), 21 countries, over 740 branches, and more than 30,000 employees in its operations in Africa and Europe, with representative offices in China, Lebanon, India, and the UAE. 


The Bank’s parent company, Access Holdings Plc is listed on the Nigerian Exchange as Access Corporation, a diversified financial institution which plays across digital lending, payment services, insurance brokerage, pension funds management, and offers deep corporate banking expertise. 


The Bank has a tradition of curating stronger solutions for customers and combines a strong retail customer franchise and digital platform with deep corporate banking expertise and proven risk and capital management capabilities. The Bank services its various markets though four key segments Corporate and Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Business Banking, Personal and Private Banking. Access Bank has enjoyed what is arguably Africa’s most successful banking growth trajectory in the last 22 years , becoming one of the continents largest retail banks.


Incorporated in Zambia in 2008, the Bank has continued a positive trajectory, aligned to the Bank’s ambition of growth and vision to be the world’s most respected African Bank.

In February 2021, the Bank completed its acquisition of Cavmont Bank Zambia Limited,  emerging as a stronger and well capitalised franchise with improved scale and capacity to deliver best in class financial services on the Zambian Market. Just under 3 years later ,on 8th January 2024, the Bank announced its completion of its acquisition of Atlas Mara Zambia, set to creating a top 5 Bank with the largest footprint boasting a total of 71 collective outlets of Branches, Agencies and Cash Centres spread across all 10 provinces in Zambia. 


As the Bank embarks on its ongoing integration with Atlas Mara Zambia, it remains focused on mainstreaming sustainable business practices into is operations, striving to deliver sustainable economic growth that is profitable, environmentally responsible, and socially relevant
