Access Bank Zambia Limited Appoints Dr. Iheanyi Nwogu as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer

Access Bank Zambia Limited (“Access Bank” or the Bank”) today announces the appointment of Dr. Iheanyi Nwogu as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective immediately. Dr. Nwogu’s appointment follows approval by the Board of Directors and the Bank of Zambia, reinforcing the Bank’s commitment to strong, visionary leadership as it continues its trajectory of growth and transformation.
Before his recent appointment, Dr Nwogu held the position of Deputy Managing Director for Public Sector and Wholesale Banking. He subsequently assumed the role of interim Managing Director in October 2025. Dr Nwogu will leverage his wealth of experience to steer Access Bank Zambia towards achieving its resolve to become the leading financial institution in Zambia by 2027.
With over 22 years of banking experience, Dr Nwogu has been part of the Access Bank Group since 2005, serving in various leadership roles across the continent. Since joining Access Bank Zambia in May 2023 as Deputy Managing Director, he has been instrumental in shaping the Bank’s strategic direction and driving operational excellence, particularly in Wholesale Banking and Operations. His leadership has contributed significantly to strengthening the Bank’s position in the Zambian financial sector, improving digital capabilities, and enhancing customer experience.
Commenting on the appointment, Ms. Anne Sampa, Chairperson of the Board of Access Bank Zambia stated:
