Access Bank Zambia Donates To Lusaka Central Prison

Access Bank, one of Zambia’s emerging banks has once again restated its commitment to complementing government efforts in raising the living standards in the country with the donation of assorted items, cleaning, and painting at Lusaka Central Correctional Facility, popularly known as Chimbokaila.

The Items were presented by the Managing Director of Access Bank Zambia limited Mrs Joana Bannerman to the District Regional commander Mrs Simoonga on 14th December, 2019. The donation is meant to improve and enhance the lives of inmates especially the women and the circumstantial children who are born to women in the prison.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Managing Director Access Bank Zambia, Mrs. Joana Bannerman indicated that the Bank is continuously practising sustainable banking that is about making the lives of the people especially the under privileged and vulnerable in the community we serve bright and better.
She conclusively said, “Through charitable initiatives like these, we strongly believe that we can complement government efforts in providing safe and humane custody of inmates until they are lawfully discharged in order to safeguard the interest of the public. In supporting various Zambia Correctional Service initiatives, the Bank will enhance the provision of quality correctional services in order to promote public safety and to contribute to the social economic development of the country.”

As you will recall that Access Bank donated to the Pediatric Cancer Hospital at UTH a laminar flow cabinet in 2014; In 2017 the Bank donated cleaning materials at UTH Mother and New Born Baby Hospital, specifically the low cost maternity ward; and participated in the cleaning of the low cost maternity ward, and in 2018 the Bank donated garbage bins to the Lusaka City Council during the Cholera outbreak to complement government efforts in trying to curb the spread of the disease at the same time prevent future occurrences, and also donated learning materials to Palabana Basic School amongst other numerous projects.
