Access Bank Zambia Renews Sponsorship with Red Arrows Rugby Club, Expands Support to K1.3 million

Access Bank Zambia has renewed its partnership with Red Arrows Rugby Club for the 2025–2026 rugby season with an enhanced sponsorship package of K1.3 million reaffirming the bank’s commitment to sports development and youth empowerment in Zambia.

The renewed sponsorship builds on a longstanding partnership dating back to 2015 under Atlas Mara and continues into a new chapter with Access Bank. The funds will go towards the purchase of high-quality kit for both the Men’s and Women’s teams, covering jerseys, training kits, tracksuits, boots, and other essential equipment.

Speaking during the official signing ceremony, Access Bank Zambia Managing Director, Mr. Lishala Situmbeko, expressed gratitude to the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Command for its continued support and praised the Red Arrows for their stellar performance during the 2024 rugby season.

“Both the Men’s and Women’s teams showcased extraordinary determination and discipline, achieving an incredible milestone by winning all Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) tournaments,” said Mr. Situmbeko. “The Men’s team secured their eleventh consecutive National League Championship, while the Women’s team lost just one game all season — a near-perfect record.”

As part of the expanded package, Access Bank Zambia will also serve as the main sponsor of the Independence Challenge Tournament, dedicating K300,000 from the K1.3 million towards the event. The tournament is scheduled to take place in October 2025, and in the event, it is not held as planned, the funds will be rolled over to support the 2026 edition.

“This sponsorship is more than just financial support. It’s an investment in the dreams and potential of Zambia’s youth. Through sports, we aim to build stronger, healthier communities and provide platforms for talent to shine,” added Mr. Situmbeko. “Our commitment to corporate social responsibility is unwavering, and we are proud to be part of Zambia’s sporting journey.” Mr. Situmbeko said.

The partnership aligns with Access Bank’s broader vision of inclusivity, empowerment, and shared prosperity, reinforcing the bank’s belief that sports can be a catalyst for social cohesion and national development.

Speaking at the same event, Zambia Airforce Commander Representative Brig, Gen Leo Tembo thanked the Bank for its continued to the team and pledged on behalf of the team to work extra hard.
