Dr. Pius Kasolo is a respected business strategist with over 20 years of experience in mining exploration across the UK, Europe, and Africa. He is particularly noted for his role as CEO of ZCCM-IH, where he transformed the company from a loss-making entity into a world-class investment firm during his five-year tenure.
He began his career in 1980 as a student geologist at ZCCM Copper Mines in Zambia, later becoming a senior economic geologist at Zambia’s Geological Survey Department. After completing post-doctoral research in Geochemistry in 1991, he worked as a consultant geologist for BHP Billiton and spent four years with SAMAX Resources, a London-based mining company. He worked as a part-time senior consultant at the European Union in Brussels before joining JCI in South Africa in 1997 as a Group Generative exploration manager. In 1998, Dr. Kasolo joined Anglo American’s new business division in Gabon and subsequently moved to MAC Consulting in South Africa.
Director Kasolo holds a master’s degree in Basin Analysis and Economic Geology from Nancy Ecole de Mine in France, a PhD in Economic Geology from the University of Southampton in the UK, and an MBA from Thames Valley University in the UK. His interests include reading, playing rugby, discussing politics, and music. He is fluent in English and proficient in French and five African languages.
